Marie Dismukes, 109, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2017 in Arlington.
Graveside Service: 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 14, 2017 Tahoka Nevells Cemetery, Tahoka.
Marie was born January 4, 1908 in DeKalb, TX to Arence Nelson and Cora Anderson Nelson. She was raised in DeKalb, and moved to Tahoka, Texas and later to Post, Texas where she lived and worked at Burlington Mills for many years. Other than a short time living in Roswell, New Mexico she lived her entire life in Texas. After her father's death, Marie moved to Abilene and cared for her mother and aunt Mattie. The past 12 years, she has lived in Arlington with her daughter, Yvonne and son-in-law Don.
Marie was a caregiver all of her life and with minimal education, she lovingly raised her 5 children. She worked hard and was devoted to her family. She loved to garden, and at 97 years old, she had her last big vegetable garden. Marie was a giving angel and it only took 109 years for God to take her home.
She was preceded in death by her son, Doyal Spinks and his wife Betty; daughter, Joyce Winter; granddaughter Brenda Somers; great-grandson Bryan Dean Spinks and great-granddaughter, Megan Corley.
Survivors: Children, Alton Spinks and wife, Jackie, Yvonne Hammonds, Finnis Corley and wife, Jane; son-in-law, Don Winter; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and her loving caregivers, Sue Crowder and Sharon Jackson.
