Marie Ann Pettus, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully. She was born on October 10, 1933, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Jentoft Dagvard Jensen and Hilda Amanda Jensen.
Marie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harry D. Pettus, and her son, Jim Pettus. She is survived by her loving children, David Pettus and his wife Vickie, Debbie Bond and her husband Ron, and Lori Yost. Marie’s legacy continues through her eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life.
Marie grew up in a large family, with siblings Stewart Jensen, Bob Jensen, and Wes Jensen, who have all passed, and is survived by her brother Ken Jensen and sister Shirley Stewart.
She spent a year at Bob Jones University before dedicating herself to being a homemaker. Marie’s talents extended beyond her home; she was a skilled clarinet player in her school band and actively volunteered with the Red Cross and her church. As a military wife, she provided unwavering support to her husband and family, embodying the spirit of service and resilience.
Marie had a passion for growing flowers, a testament to her love for nature and beauty. Her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, were the center of her world. Known for her charitable nature and love for music, Marie was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.
A family graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, June 10, at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in honor of Marie’s generous spirit and commitment to helping others.
Marie Ann Pettus will be remembered for her kindness, love, and unwavering devotion to her family and community. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
