Maribeth Lee Hamby passed away peacefully on September 20, 2024, in Mansfield, TX at the age of 67. She was a beloved wife, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and great aunt. Maribeth was born on December 21, 1956, to parents James and Sandra Weaver, in Peoria, IL. She was a cherished member of her community and a beacon of light to all that knew her.
As a devoted wife and successful business owner, Beth brought love and joy into the lives of those around her. Her warm smile and kind heart touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impact that will never be forgotten.
She moved to Texas and met the love of her life, Don, in 1978. They were married and began their life together on February 9, 1980, in Grand Prairie, TX.
Throughout their marriage she supported all of Don’s passions. They started a business and opened a store which she ran while Don started a career with LTV/Vought.
When Don joined the Arlington Elks Lodge 2114, she supported his new activities. She joined the B. P. O. Does and became President the same year Don became President of the Lodge. She also worked in the Lodge office as assistant to the Secretary. Beth was responsible for converting the newsletter from cutting and pasting on paper to the early publishing software.
They enjoyed many shared passions. Street Rodding was a family affair. Beth and Don could often be found traveling across country in their 1933 Chevy to events, meeting up with her parents, sister, and brother-in-law. Beth enjoyed organizing and cooking wonderful dinners for family and friends at these events.
Beth was an avid hockey fan. She became a fan at age 13, and when the Dallas Stars moved from Minnesota, Don bought season tickets every year. She was looking forward to the upcoming season.
She also learned to play mahjong and participated in weekly games with a group of ladies from the Lodge.
Beth was preceded in death by her father, James Earle Weaver.
She is survived by her loving husband Donald Hamby; parents James and Sandra Grauel; brother-in-law Gary Hamby (Rayne), sister-in-law Judy Miller (Geary); brothers Scott Weaver (Marcelle), James M. Grauel, Jr (Kimberly), Jonathan Grauel (Angela), and sister Jennifer Winstead (George).
Beth was extremely proud of her nieces and nephews and their many accomplishments: Ryan S. Weaver, Derek A. Grauel, Jaaron J. Grauel, Arianna J. Grauel, Justine A. Grauel, Jace P. Grauel, Aubrey J. Winstead, Eva J. Winstead, Brandon E. Hamby (Erin), Aaron K. Hamby (Paula), Ashley R. Johnson (Brett), Justin Miller (Rita). She was also proud to be a great aunt to her grand nieces and nephews: Wylan J. and Hudson Grauel, Kylee, Haden and Clara Hamby, Foster and Remi Yan-Hamby, Clayton Johnson and Mellie Miller.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Friends, family and all who were touched by her presence are invited to the funeral service at 10:00 A.M. on October 5, 2024. The service will be held at the Wade Chapel in Arlington, TX.
