Marguerite Utter, 95, passed away on Monday, January 30, 2023, in Fort Worth, Texas, surrounded by her family.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, February 7, with a rosary beginning at 7 p.m. at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Funeral Mass: 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 8, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 5819 W. Pleasant Ridge Rd., Arlington.
Marguerite was born on October 11, 1927 in Carona, Kansas, to Antonio Gava and Lucy Leone Gava. She lived in Antioch, California, from 1971 until 2013, when she moved to Texas. In Antioch, Marguerite worked for the Bank of America from 1971 until 2000, when she retired. It was through her employment with the Bank of America that Marguerite made life long friends with whom she shared many wonderful times and remained friends throughout her life. After moving to California, Marguerite enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Arlington, Texas.
Some of her family’s fondest memories of times shared with Marguerite are a cruise for her 80th birthday, trips to special places in California, gardening, sharing morning walks with her and her friends, picking cherries in the orchards of California. She enjoyed playing card games with her sons and daughter in laws, a fun drink or glass of wine in her hand. Marguerite loved things to be in their proper place and taught her family the importance of making their bed first thing in the morning. She loved Frank Sinatra and so enjoyed listening to his music. Marguerite lived a full life and left a wonderful and loving impression on everyone she met. She dearly loved her family and enjoyed doting on her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Those who knew Marguerite know that her dementia progressed in her last year. She didn’t fully understand what people were saying or how to respond. Her favorite response was, “That was a good one,” followed by the wonderful laugh that she shared with everyone. Her family is grateful for the years they had with her – it truly “was a good one.”
Survivors: Marguerite is survived by her son, Ron and his wife, Linda; her daughter, Toni and her husband, Bruce; her daughter-in-law, Dorislee; grandchildren: Isaiah (Erin); Tobiah (Annvi); Rachel; Tiffany; Chelsea (David); and Alex; great-grandchildren: Christian and Rosalyn, DJ and Ella, Serena and Maya, Angus and Opal, and Breanna; and great-great grandchildren: Cameron and Noe; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents and siblings; son, Randy; and grandson, Joshua.
The family wants to express deepest gratitude to St. Gabriel Hospice and the many professionals who cared for Marguerite.
