Maxine was born on October 11, 1931, to Bernard and Elva O'Brien in Dubuque, Iowa. She grew up a kid of the Midwest and inherited values that would benefit her family one day. She grew up helping at the family grocery store, riding her white horse, and exploring with her friends. After graduating high school from St. Joseph Academy, her family moved to Texas Once in Texas, Maxine worked as an executive secretary at Chance Vought and later at Allstate Insurance.
