Margaret Mohr Ford celebrated her 91st birthday on her last day, Friday, 10/11/2024. She passed away at Town Hall Estates-Arlington Nursing home with her daughter, Barbara Morris, and son–in-law, Chris Morris, by her side.
Margaret was born in Washington, TX to Ed and Ida Mohr on October 11, 1933. She was the fourth of five children and the first girl born to her parents. During her childhood Margaret and her family moved to Piedmont, TX and later to Navasota, TX where Margaret spent all of her life until November 12, 2020 when she moved to Arlington, TX to live next door to her daughter and son-in-law.
Margaret graduated from Navasota High School in 1951, attended business college in Houston, TX, married and had a child, Barbara. Margaret was a detail-oriented person and could locate anything that she or someone else was looking for. Margaret worked for the USDA-Grimes County ASCS Office in Navasota for 40 years all the while raising her daughter.
Margaret was an animal lover, and throughout her long life she had many dogs and cats. Her pup, Pistol, was really important to her as a youngster. Her dogs Cleo, Peggy, Buster, Blitz, Nikki, Sissy, Jack, April and Mia, provided much love that she returned during her adult life. Kitties, including Thomas (more than one of those!), Smokey, Kit Kat, Dickens, Tuffy, Cara, Barron and Lucy, loved her dearly.
Margaret was preceded in death by her ex-spouse, William Ford, parents, Edwin “Ed” Mohr and Ida Lehde Mohr, brothers, Robert Mohr, Herbert Mohr and Arthur Mohr, sister, Barbara Mohr Hard, brother-in-law, Larry Hard, sisters-in-law, Doris Wilkerson Mohr, Doris Lange Mohr and Marcelene “Ann” Witte Mohr, nephews,Ricky Mohr, Billy Mohr, Shawn Mohr and Simon Cole, nieces, Marcella Mohr Joyce and Faith Mohr, and dear friends, Marilyn Warzon and Doris Allen.
Margaret will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Barbara, son-in-law, Chris, grandsons, Jeff and Matt Morris, many beloved nieces and nephews including Terry and Jay Necessary, Beverly Simmons, Sandy and Alton White, Rhonda and Jeff Gross, Cindy Fuest, James and Lorrie Hard, Lori Ann Cole, Edwin (the son she didn’t bear) and Heidi Hard, and Jo Ann and Eric Desselle and many great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.
Margaret’s family would like to thank all who helped her during the last journey of her life including all the staff at Town Hall Estates Arlington Nursing Home and Abundant Hospice Services, LLC of Arlington, TX.
There will be a Day of Tribute and Memorial Gathering at Wade Funeral Home & Crematory, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington, TX on Friday, 11/15/2024, 2-4 PM.
Memorial donations in Margaret’s name may be made to a charity or non-profit of your choice, to the American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA) or to the SPCA.
