Margaret "Peggy" Pokrifcsak of Arlington, Texas, passed away on May 8, 2021, at the age of 79.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 on Friday, May 21st at Trinity Methodist Church, located at 1200 W. Green Oaks Blvd., Arlington, Texas.
Peggy was born to parents Marvin and Alberta Hughey on December 6, 1941, in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. She was the oldest of four daughters. She married John Pokrifcsak on February 11, 1962. Immediately following, they relocated to Ft. Hood, Texas. After three years in the military, they embraced the corporate world and moved about to several states with John's career, landing in Arlington, Texas in 1977. They had three children, Debbie, Jeff and Brian.
Peggy's career outside of motherhood, included working for United Airlines and American Airlines. She also worked in real estate. Her top priority has always been focused on her children and grandchildren.
She was a member of Arlington Women's Club, and Ambassador at Arlington Memorial Hospital, supporter of the Santa Fe International Folk Market and Santa Fe Indian Market. Her love of the arts included time supporting the Arlington Art Museum and hosting competitors with the Van Cliburn International Piano competition. She and John enjoyed their time collecting and dealing art, but mostly getting to know the artists. Spending time at her Santa Fe home was also a favorite.
Her other passion was travel, which included England, various European countries, Hawaii, South America and International cruises. One of her favorite highlights included traveling to Russia for the Pushkin Russian Ball in St. Petersburg.
"The Nan" was loved immensely. Her surviving family includes her husband John Pokrifcsak, daughter Debbie Pokrifcsak Hamann, Son Jeff Pokrifcsak and wife Erin, Son Brian Pokrifcsak and wife Renee, her grandchildren Kelsey Hamann Bagwell and husband Garrett, Zachary Hamann and wife Morganne, John and Olivia Pokrifcsak, Tate and Cody Pokrifcsak, along with her sisters Nancy Koehler, Marilyn Bartholomew and Dawn Fritz, all from Pennsylvania.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital; Garysinisefoundation.org, (wounded Vets and first responders), and Trinity United Methodist Church of Arlngton, Texas.
