Mae R. Shelton is preceded in death by husband, Harold B. Shelton, son, Berry Shelton, granddaughter, Catherine McNeal, her parents & beloved dog, Max.
She is survived by daughters, Belinda McNeal, Tina Shelton, Tamie Shelton & Tish Shelton all of Texas, grandchildren, great grandchildren & one great-great grandchild.
Mae Shelton, was born in Los Angeles, CA to John & Una Russell in 1931. Her family moved back to Texas twice where she spent time on her grandparent's farm in Parker county. After graduating from Millsap high school, Mae worked as a dental assistant in Fort Worth. There she met her husband of 55 years. She continued to work part-time while raising 5 children and caring for her mother. She was a member of Fielder Church Arlington, TX, and a former member of Spring Baptist Church Spring, TX, and University Baptist Church Arlington, TX.
Her life was a testament to her faith as she survived many struggles throughout her life. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, traveling, crossword puzzles, learning the Word of God & listening to gospel music.
Mae was an extremely strong woman who persevered throughout her life while giving God the glory for everything bestowed upon her. Mae wanted to give her children opportunities that she never had for herself.
We'd like to give thanks to Rehab at Home, Homewatch CareGivers of Keller/Grapevine, Dispatch Health & Good Shepherd Hospice for their care & compassion.
"When my lifework is ended, and I cross the swelling tide,
When the bright and glorious morning I shall see;
I shall know my Redeemer when I reach the other side,
And His smile will be the first to welcome me."
