Lucinda Ann Gordon, age 73, passed away peacefully in her Arlington, Texas home on March 26, 2023.
Cindy was born on February 17, 1950 in Battle Creek, Michigan to her mother Mary Lou Dennis. She attended the University of Texas in Galveston as well as the University of Texas at Arlington.
Cindy was a Director at Technical Colleges in Texas, Colorado, California, and Florida. In her later career, she was an ESL teacher at Tarrant County Community College. She took great pleasure in helping her students succeed.
Cindy was an exceptionally intelligent, spirited and independent individual. She was a compassionate lover of animals and, having previously worked as a vet tech, was dedicated to adopting rescues. On her car, she displayed a bumper sticker that read “Dogs don’t dump people”. She adopted and provided a loving home to numerous dogs over the years. Cindy most recently provided a forever home for Hud, her 11 year-old Great Pyrenees named after the movie Hud, starring Paul Newman. She very much loved the outdoors, especially walking down by Lake Arlington with Hud.
Cindy possessed a very dry and quick wit, often leaving those around her in a fit of laughter. She traveled extensively while working for the United States Air Force as a Restaurant and Hospitality Consultant. Throughout her travels and adventures to many countries, her favorite place was Venice, Italy. Cindy’s love of food led her down many a gourmet path during her travels.
Lucinda was preceded in death by her darling daughter, Shannon.
She is greatly beloved by her son Greg, daughter-in-law Angela, grandchildren Talis and Rinley, and co-grandma Patricia Robinson. Lucinda will be missed by them and numerous other friends and family.
