Louis Otto Maidhof, age 96, passed away on November 12, 2022 at his home in Arlington, Texas.

Louis was born on June 22, 1926 in Brooklyn, NY to George Peter Maidhof and Margaret Isabella Beck Maidhof. He attended Sewanhaka High School in Floral Park, NY.

Louis married Josephine Sicari on October 4, 1953 and they remained married until her death on May 15, 1992. A few years later, he met Valerie Leger and they were married on September 23, 1995 and remained married until his death on November 12, 2022.

Louis served in the United Sates Army during World War II from 1944-1946, achieving the rank of Corporal.

Louis remained very active in his later years. In addition to pursuing hobbies such as reading, history, gardening and general tinkering, he volunteered his time and passions in many different areas. In his 60s and into his early 70s, Louis and his late wife Josephine made thousands of rosaries for the Catholic Ministry to Prisons. Louis was active in the Catholic Pro-Life Movement of Fort Worth and in his 70s and 80s, he volunteered to pray the rosary in Fort Worth each month for mothers to choose adoption. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Louis was preceded in death by his wife Josephine Maidhof, parents Margaret and George P. Maidhof, brother George P. Maidhof Jr. (wife Marion), sister Eda Rutkowski (husband Ed), brother Jim, brother Pete (wife Marie), brother-in-law John Sicari (wife Lee), step daughter Betty Darline Trussell, sister-in-law Molly Powers, infant grandson Joseph Patrick Svitak.

He is survived by wife Valerie Maidhof, daughter Debbie Brausch (husband Peter), daughter Karole Maidhof (partner Paul McGrath), daughter Lisa Medina (husband Henry), grandchildren Korin Medina, Kristin Brausch Fowler (husband AJ), Maylin Medina Luke (husband Blakely), Kenneth Svitak, Henry Paul Medina (wife Aubrey), Laura Svitak, Valerie Medina (husband Daniel Villanueva), great-grandchildren Addison, Colton and Landon Fowler, Johnathan Svitak and Isabella Villanueva, brother Bill Maidhof (wife Cathy), sister-in-law Dolores Maidhof, brother-in-law Sal Sicari, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, brother-in-law John Powers, step son Lee Jay Powers, step grandson Karl Lee Powers (wife Jessica), step grandchildren Naomi Powers, Kim Trussell, Robert Trussell, Micheal Trussell and Brandon Trussell and many step great grandchildren.
