Lorraine Sue Bedtke (“Lorry” or “LB”) passed away on July 20, 2023 in Arlington, Texas surrounded by her children and grandchildren listening to Elvis. Lorry left this world as a beloved mother, me-mom, and friend to many.
Lorry was born on May 31, 1943 in Chicago, IL, to Sam and Olga Stuchlak. She was one of two children. She went on to have three children: Karen Barousse, Kenneth Bertolozzi, and Christine Moore.
Lorry married the love of her life Walter Bedtke on October 15, 1976. The next 25 years were spent raising children together, traveling, and building a business. To know Lorry and Wally was to know true love.
Lorry was an excellent cook, avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan, shuffleboard player, and game show lover. Her house was always full of food, music, family, and friends. She loved to entertain, hosting the best parties in the bar room, dancing around the jukebox. Lorry was a staple of her neighborhood and lovingly referred to as Grandma Lorry by the neighborhood kids.
Of all her wonderful traits, she will be remembered most for her unwavering devotion, love, and support of those she cared for – most notably her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who all cherished her. She was a strong and independent woman. From raising three children as a single mother in the city to her final moments, she never lost her grit. In her final years, she spent most of her time around her kitchen table – still hosting and bringing laughter to those around her. Lorry will be missed dearly by all who had the pleasure of knowing her, especially those who called her “Mom” and “Me-Mom”.
Lorraine is survived by Karen Barousse, Kenneth Bertolozzi (Amy), and Christine Moore, Jack Bedtke – Step Son, Frank Bedtke – Step Son (15) Grandchildren: Steve Ceretto (Julie), Jackie Jaeger, Alex Jaeger (Lauren), Tony Bertolozzi, Megan Hasty, Emma Hasty, Charity McGowan (Mike), Cameron Reeves (Charles), Brian Bedtke (Amy), Robert Bedtke (Angela), Christopher Bedtke (Allison Fournier), Scott Bedtke (Cory), Alissa Bedtke, Natalia Bedtke and Jack Bedtke; (14) Great Grandchildren: Owen, Braylyn, Harper, Vera, Lily, Charlie, Addyson, Zane, Joey, Haley, Madison, Izzy, Ryan and Nora.
