Loretta Houk

On August 24, 2022, Loretta Houk, 99, of Arlington, Texas went to her eternal home to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Loretta is survived by Joanne Houk – daughter, of Arlington and Aaron Houk – grandson of Arlington.

Loretta is preceded in death by Joe Houk – spouse, Adam Wurz – father, Bertha Wurz – mother, twin sister Lorraine and 6 other sisters and 4 brothers.

A Memorial Service for Loretta Houk will be held at a later date.

Burial: Moore Memorial Gardens, Arlington, TX.

Loretta was born and raised in Marathon County, Wisconsin. She worked at Gimbel’s Department Store in downtown Milwaukee for many years. Later, she met her husband to be at a Bible Camp in Lowry, Minnesota. After she married she became a dedicated housewife and a loving and caring mother. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and made many gourmet meals, fancy cookies, cakes, pies and pastries. Every year for her daughter’s birthday until her daughter was a teenager, she would make a themed birthday cake and decorate it, all without using cake mix or pre-made frosting. She also loved to try new recipes and had several cookbooks.
Loretta loved to write letters and had many friends and relatives from different states and even out of the country, that she corresponded with throughout the years. She also enjoyed gardening, but most of all pruning and caring for her beautiful rose bushes that bordered the back yard and side of the house. Some of her other hobbies were sewing, various crafts and collecting rocks from the different places that she traveled to.
Loretta was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She will be missed dearly by her daughter, grandson, nephews and nieces.
