ARLINGTON -- Lloyd William Neitzel, 86, formerly of the Huron and Aberdeen, SD areas passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 in Arlington, Texas.
Memorial Service: 1:00 p.m. Sunday at Wade Family Funeral Home Chapel, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington with Pastor Scott Kelly officiating. Inurnment: Cremains burial with military rites will be at a later date in Columbia, SD.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Aberdeen Youth Scholarship Fund, 1429 North Dakota Street, Aberdeen, SD 57401.
Lloyd William Neitzel was born June 3, 1925, to Herbert and Martha (Podoll) Neitzel at Columbia, SD. He attended Warner High School and served in the U.S. Army from December of 1945 to May of 1947. Lloyd married Bernadine Motley in July of 1947.
Lloyd was an auto parts salesman in Huron for 30 years. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, archer, and gardener. He assisted his son's Boy Scout troop for many years. His passion was spending weekends at the lake, teaching numerous friends and family members to water ski.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Della Winchester; brothers, Willis, Donald and Burton Neitzel.
Survivors: Those blessed to share Lloyd's life include his wife of 64 years, Bernadine Neitzel; daughters, Jackie Morris of San Antonio and Vickie (Wayne) Carson of Arlington; son, Delmer (Wanda) Neitzel of Steele, ND; sisters, LaDonna (Wally) Jaehn of Blair, NE, Carol (Garth) Zieman of Oakes, ND, and Karon Anliker of Aberdeen, SD; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
