Lindy LaVerne Lewis (89), a veteran and retired business owner, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2021, in Arlington, Texas.
Visitation: The family will receive friends 6:00pm – 8:00pm on Wednesday, July 7th at Wade Family Funeral Home.
Funeral: 10:00am Thursday, July 8th at Wade Family Funeral Chapel, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway.
Burial will To follow in Moore Memorial Gardens.
Lindy was born August 6, 1931, in Bloom, WI to Kenneth “Merlie” and Sarah “Vi” (Granger) Lewis. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1950 as an Office Machine Serviceman and was honorably discharged in 1954. While serving during the Korean War he was awarded the National Defense Service Ribbon, United Nations Service Ribbon, and the Korean Service Medal. He was married to Nina (Banks) for 49 years and together they owned and operated the Typewriter Shoppe in Arlington, TX for over 30 years. Lindy was a member of Masonic Lodge, Arlington #438 and of St. Stephen United Methodist Church.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Nina (Banks) Lewis; parents, Merlie and Vi Lewis; sister, Elinor Johnson; sons Terry Lewis and Tony Lewis.
Lindy is survived by his sister, Judy Smith; grandchildren, Becky Milne and husband Frank, Joshua Lewis and wife Shea, Anne Masterson and husband Daniel, Nina Creasman and husband Tyler; great grandchildren, Evangeline Cruz-Milne, Maren Hoffa, Ethan Milne, Thatcher Lewis, Thurston Lewis, Theodore Lewis, Taylor Masterson, Terilyn Masterson, Walker Creasman, Townes Creasman, Bowen Creasman; daughters-in-law Kris Lewis, Ranae Lewis; a host of other family members and special friends.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Scottish Rite for Children in Lindy's name.
