Linda Faye Wise

September 4, 1942 — March 21, 2019

Linda Faye Sherrill Wise peacefully passed on to our Father on March 21, 2019 at Pecan Manor in Kennedale, Texas at the age of 76. Linda was born on September 4, 1942 in Hopkinsville, KY to Jewell and Ophelia Sherrill. She graduated from Galveston Ball High in 1960. She married her high school sweetheart, Al Wise, in 1960. While living in LaMarque in the early seventies, Linda and Al began developing the Acteen State Staffer program which would support summer camps across the state. Linda also served as Galveston Associational GA Director, as well as the Director for the Gulf Coast/Acteen summer camp for many years. During this time, they welcomed their first born, David, and then their daughter, Debra. After her husband committed to the ministry, Linda continued working for Monsanto Chemical and received her Real Estate License. After moving to Victoria, Texas, Linda worked with Century 21 and continued ministering in her role as pastor's wife and Sunday School Teacher. While they lived in Hubbard, Bellville, and Arlington, Linda continued having various roles in the church and supported her husband through prayer and love. Her children remember her as a soft-spoken mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals. Linda was an empathetic Sunday School teacher and formed life-long bonds with those whose lives she touched. Linda had a forgiving heart and always tried to respond to life's challenges with prayer and patience. Linda was an incredible grandmother. She gave time, hugs, love, support, and always an open lap to sing cute songs, to listen to their day's adventures, and to make sure that they always knew how special they are. Linda enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren play sports, attending church, reading her Bible, and shopping. Linda is survived by her mother, Ophelia Sherrill of Hopkinsville,KY; husband, Al Wise; Son: David Wise and his wife Lisa of Lawrence, Kansas; Daughter: Debra Rhoades Newman and her husband Dana Newman; Grandchildren: Jenna and Jon Rhoades of Arlington, Texas; siblings, Brenda Kelly and her husband Colin of Lebanon, TN; numerous nieces and cousins.
