Leslie Lee Binkley, 90, passed away on Friday, July 14, 2023 in Mansfield.
Funeral Service: 10 a.m. Monday, July 31, at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Visitation: 4-6 p.m. Sunday, July 30, at the funeral home.
Leslie was born on May 21, 1933 in Wild Horse, Oklahoma to Henry Olan Binkley and Edith Hardy. He graduated from Blackwell High School and from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Engineering. He later became a Texas Professional Engineer. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Rucker in Alabama. He worked for LTV from late 1950’s to early 1970’s as an engineer. Les worked as a contractor starting in the early 1970’s and over the next 45 years. His companies built several hundred commercial projects mainly in the Arlington and Mansfield area. He was an entrepreneur who co-founded three construction companies and a development company.
Les’ work ethics were second to none. He was a generous person and enjoyed helping others. Les had a special charisma about him that made others feel at ease and always with a sense of humor.
He enjoyed working in his yard and being outdoors. He loved playing tennis with his family and friends. And remained close with his tennis buddies. Throughout his life he enjoyed water skiing, snow skiing, camping and reunions. He was a great dancer and enjoyed listening to Big Band music. Les also held a private pilots license.
Les was very supportive of the Arlington Girls Club. He had volunteered as a Scout Leader with the Boy Scouts and was on the Board of Directors at First City National Bank.
He dearly loved his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 60 years, Dorothy Elaine Binkley
He is Survived by: His wife, Alicia Binkley, son Steven Binkley and wife, Cathy; daughter, Vicki Binkley Whitehead and husband, Ron; stepdaughters Erandi Torres and husband Victor; Teira Solis and husband Salvador; Oriana delaCruz and husband Carlos; grandchildren, Franklin Binkley and fiance Leslie; Ryan Whitehead; Samuel Binkley and wife, Courtney; Rachel Trevino and husband, Gary; Nicholas Binkley and wife, Catherine; step grandchildren Matthew, Jacob, Gala, Maya, Kiri, Natalia and great-grandchildren, Luke, Shiloh, Ryder, Ian, Layla, Emily, Peter, Rayne, Will, Elizabeth and Rebecca.
