Leslie George Dick was born to Winfred and Inez Dick on October 31,1940 and passed from this life on December 22, 2024, at home with his beloved wife, Karol Ann.
Leslie joined the Marines in 1959 and served his country faithfully for four years plus another two in the Marine Corp reserves. While in the Marines, he was awarded a good conduct medal. That comes as no surprise to anyone who knew him.
Leslie attended the Primitive Baptist Church most of his life and was a cherished member of the First Primitive Baptist Church of Dallas at the time of his passing. He strove to honor his God through his words and deeds. God’s love shown through Leslie, so he made friends easily. In later years, he worked at Tom Thumb grocery store where his customers loved him and looked for him each time they visited the store. His caring ways and his quirky sense of humor endeared him to his family, friends, and customers.
One thing that Leslie was passionate about was gardening. He was delighted to have a large back yard and saw endless possibilities there. He enjoyed meeting with a local garden club and planting and tending his gardens. Even in his final months on earth, he mulched leaves with a pair of scissors so they could be placed on his garden.
His true devotion, second only to God, was his childhood sweetheart and cherished wife, Karol Ann. Although their lives took them in separate directions, he always remembered her and loved her. Some of his poems attesting to this love have even been published. When they met again in 1992, he declared his love for her, and they were soon married. Throughout the years, they most enjoyed traveling to attend church meetings at various Primitive Baptist churches. God blessed them to remain side by side for 31 years.
Leslie is survived by Karol Ann; daughter, Tamar Dick; Dana Karr and husband, Tim; Robert Creech; grandchildren: Bryan Carr and wife, Francie; Railee and Ashlee Creech; great grandchildren: Abby, and husband, Dillon David; Ellie and husband, Monnie Smith; great-great grandchildren: Rosalio David, Blaykelnn Smith; nephew, Kalvin Dickson.
He was preceded in death by his parents Winfred and Inez Dick; sister, Hazel Dick; and brother, Elvin Dick.
