Lawrence was born on November 27, 1959 in Juaben, Ghana to Kwame Addai and Adwoa Boatemaa. He attended Peterson School of Engineering and North Essex Truck Driving School. Lawrence married Dora Sarpong on February 27, 1984. He enjoyed watching boxing and soccer. Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, Kwame Addai and Adwoa Boatemaa.
