Laurie Lee Thompson, beloved mother, stepmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2024, Fort Worth, Texas. She was 63 years old.
Born on July 6, 1961, in Neptune, New Jersey, Laurie was the daughter of Anthony Charles Matone and Edith Rose Moss. From an early age, Laurie exhibited a vibrant and creative spirit. Her passion for crafting, reading, and learning became defining aspects of her life, as did her talent for inspiring others with her imaginative outlook. Laurie’s career as a visual supervisor at Kohl’s was more than just a job; it was a source of joy and pride that allowed her to express her artistic flair and connect with those around her.
Laurie’s life was defined by her love for family and friends. She is survived by her devoted son, Kastor Halliwell, and her stepdaughter, Natasha Murphy, whom she raised with unwavering care and love. As a grandmother, Laurie found immense joy in Natasha’s children, Maverick Murphy and Thea Murphy, who filled her life with laughter and light. Her loyal dog, Spaz, was also a constant source of companionship and comfort.
Faith played a central role in Laurie’s life. She was an active participant in her church community, where she found strength and fellowship in weekly gatherings. Laurie’s deep spirituality was evident in her kind and compassionate nature, as well as in the joy she brought to others.
Laurie shared a close bond with her dear friend Stacy Dupree of Louisiana, with whom she made countless cherished memories, including their adventurous casino trips. Together, they dreamed of "winning big," a testament to Laurie’s hopeful and lighthearted outlook on life.
