Larry Smith, 98, passed away on January 4, 2018 in Arlington, Texas.
A visitation for Larry will be from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 8th at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Pkwy, Arlington, Texas.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Mount Vernon City Cemetery, Mount Vernon, Texas. His body will be interred next to that of his wife, Maxine.
Larry was born in Athens, Texas to Daniel Ambrose and Mary Edna (Cox) Smith on September 15, 1919. He graduated from Athens High School and was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U. S. Air Force. He attended college under the G. I. bill and graduated from TCU in 1951. Larry lived in Andrews for 54 years, working for Amoco Production Company. He moved to Arlington in 2005 to be near his son, Stephen. Larry was an avid sports fan and enjoyed telling people that the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys played just nine miles down the road from him! He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ in Arlington. Larry is preceded in death by his wife, Maxine McDowell Smith.
Survivors include his son, Stephen Smith of Arlington, and several nephews and nieces.
