Lajaune Coble Hood

Lajaune Hood, of Bedford TX, passed to glory on October 8, 2024, just a few days short of her 71st birthday.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Delbert and Manona.

Lajaune is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of fifty-one years, Randall Hood; her son Jason Hood (Emily) of Chattanooga, TN; her daughter Amelia Dement (Chris) of Flower Mound, TX; and her seven wonderful grandchildren: Noah, Aidan, Darby, Emerson, Ivy, James, and Jasper. She was thrilled to be a grandmother and delighted in each of their unique personalities and gifts, loving them well as an enthusiastic participant in their lives. She is also survived by her sister, Cindy (Danny) of Tulsa, OK; and her brother Jerry (Robyn) of Keyser, WV, as well as adoring nephews and nieces.

She was a graduate of Coronado High School in Lubbock, TX. Her life was marked by faith in Jesus that caused her light to shine. She was known for her selflessness in care for others, wisdom in counsel, and love for all kinds of people in all kinds of ways. Lajaune was also famously fun, ready to smile or laugh or help others do the same with a delightful sense of humor. Her creativity found expression in a small business she started, The Silk Bud, which added beauty to businesses and households around the Metroplex. In “retirement” from The Silk Bud and her primary career of homemaking, she blessed her community for years by serving as the hospitality coordinator for the historic Old Bedford School.

Visitation will follow a 2 PM service Sunday, October 13, 2024 at Wade Family Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating blood (which greatly helped mom on multiple occasions) and participating in organ donation (she could not offer much because of her physical condition, although cornea and eye tissue will be used at UTSW, a place where she received excellent care in the last year of her life).
