Kenneth Ray Lawler

June 21, 1940 — June 5, 2023

Ken Lawler, 82, passed away on June 5, 2023, in Arlington, Texas. Ken was born on June 21, 1940, in Gainesville, Texas, to Cecil and Lorene (Simpson) Lawler. He graduated from Saint Jo High School and went on to attend Draughon’s Business College in Wichita Falls followed by a short time at North Texas State College. Ken worked in communications, whether it was fixing televisions or in sales. He worked for Motorola and other companies throughout his career.

Growing up Ken was a Boy Scout, played in several school bands while also involved in other activities including FFA, baseball, tennis, and the school play. Ken loved classic cars and enjoyed fishing. He loved being in his boat enjoying the sunshine and water if he wasn’t busy restoring an old car. He was involved in Chili Cookoffs for several years and even competed at Terlingua.

Ken was a 60-year member Master Mason following in the footsteps of his father who was also a Master Mason for over 50 years. He was a member of the Saint Jo Lodge #483 and a member of the Krum Masonic Lodge #1453. He loved dogs, especially schnauzers. His last dog Max lived a long, happy life with him. Ken was a member of Granbury First United Methodist Church.

Ken married Judi Miller in Saint Jo and together they had his only child.

Ken is survived by his daughter, Alana (Roger) Shuma. He has two grandsons, Chris (Elizabeth) Shuma and Steve (Ashley) Shuma, and one great-grandchild. Ken was preceded in death by his parents Cecil and Lorene Lawler, as well as his third wife Ginger, who he will be interred with at Old Hall Cemetery.

Visitation and Service will be held on June 17, 2023, at Vista Ridge United Methodist Church in Lewisville, Texas. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. A Celebration of Life Service begins at 11 a.m. with a Masonic graveside service following at Old Hall Cemetery in Lewisville, Texas. Fellowship and light food will follow at the church immediately following the graveside service.
