Kenneth Doyle Sorrells Kenneth Doyle Sorrells passed away on Friday, April 26, 2019 in Arlington, Texas. Ken was born August 31, 1942, in Holliday, Texas, to Bill and Edna Sorrells. The family later moved to Lubbock, Texas, where he spent most of his childhood. Ken graduated from Lubbock High school in 1962, which is where he met his high school sweetheart; Janet Blair. They married on November 29, 1963, and have celebrated over 55 years of marriage. As a Sergeant First Class, Ken served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1968. Shortly after Ken and Jan moved their family to Breckenridge, Texas, and opened Ken's Handy Stop at Hubbard Creek Lake. Throughout their years in Breckenridge, Ken worked for Tom's Snack Foods, Joe Hudspeth's Goodyear, and alongside his wife at Sorrells Paint and Paper. Ken's favorite pastimes were coaching his three children in softball and baseball, and cheering for the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers and Texas Tech Red Raiders. He will be remembered for his humor, generous spirit, and his love for his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law, Belle Blair, and brothers, Calvin, Bill and Melvin Sorrells. Ken is survived by his wife, Jan Sorrells; daughter, Leah Mayben and her husband Chris, of San Angelo; daughter, Amie Sorrells, of Arlington; and son, Jon Sorrells of Dallas; his two grandchildren, Madison Mayben and Joshua Mayben, of San Angelo; his sister Glenda James and her husband Therman, of Farmersville and many nieces and nephews. 2 Corinthians 4:18 “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” A memorial service will be held Friday, May 3rd, at 1:00 pm at Bethany Baptist Church.
