Kenneth Clifford Heitmeier, 94, passed away on July 19, 2024. He was born to Clifford and Mary Heitmeier on October 2, 1929 in St. Louis, Missouri. Raised an only child, he developed a stoic temperament and a good sense of humor from an early age.
He attended school at Quincy College where he met his loving wife and lifelong partner, Peggy O’Leary. After graduating in 1951, he entered the U.S. Coast Guard and served from 1951-1953.
Ken enjoyed spending his time golfing, reading the newspaper, telling a good joke, enjoying the company of his family, and turning his hearing aids down when he didn’t want to listen to the present conversation. He was proud of the family that he created and developed through 68 years of loving marriage.
Margaret “Peggy” Mary Heitmeier, 89, passed away on July 18, 2024. She was born to Joseph and Margaret O’Leary on March 12th, 1935 in St. Louis, Missouri. As the youngest of 2 children, she learned the grace, integrity, and family values that she carried through life.
She attended school at Quincy College where she met her loving husband and lifelong partner, Kenneth Heitmeier. The couple married in 1955 and started their family in St. Louis. thereafter, they settled in Minneapolis, Minnesota where they raised their 5 sons and 1 daughter. After 13 years, the family moved to Arlington, Texas where they saw their 6 children venture into successful lives of their own.
Peggy enjoyed spending time with her family, friends from her church, St. Vincent De Paul, and members of her community. She loved to be social, play cards with her friends, and be a host for all who could make it to their home. She shared such genuine excitement for the success of others around her. She was proud of the family that she created and developed through 68 years of loving marriage.
A hardworking man, a veteran, and quick-witted comic, Ken leaves behind a legacy that will never be forgotten.
A devoted family woman, a devout Catholic, and a gracious socialite, Peggy Heitmeier lived a rich and purposeful life. They leave behind a family that will continue to strive to achieve the example she set and carry on her loving legacy. Ken and Peggy were united in life and death, an example their family will forever strive to achieve
They were predeceased by their daughter Karen Heitmeier, and her parents Joseph and Margaret O’Leary. and his parents, Clifford and Mary Heitmeier
Ken was predeceased by his lifelong partner and wife Peggy Heitmeier by 16 hours
They are survived by: her sister Nancy Rowley of Kansas City, MO, their son Kenneth Heitmeier and wife Debbie of Arlington, TX, son Douglas Heitmeier of Carriere MS, son Mark Heitmeier and wife Karen Heitmeier of Parker, CO, son Gregory Heitmeier of Helotes, TX, son Scott Heitmeier and wife Angela Heitmeier of Grand Prairie, TX, daughter Kristin Bonner and Husband Jeff Bonner of Keller, TX, 14 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 2 nieces and 2 nephews.
Visitation will be held on August 15th at Wade’s Funeral Home from 5-8 PM. Services will be held at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church on August 16th at 10AM with a reception immediately following.
