Ken Carlyle Richards, 83, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 24, 2023, at Arlington Memorial Hospital.
Ken was born on May 11, 1940, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Oscar C Richards and June Vollmer Richards.
Ken moved to Colorado Springs, Co, to live with his grandparent after the passing of his mother due to cancer when he was 7 years old. He moved to Great Bend, Kansas, to live with his Dad for his junior and senior years of High School.. Ken graduated from Great Bend High School in 1958.
Ken met Susan Durheim in high school. They were married June 26, 1960, and celebrated their 63rd Wedding Anniversary this year.
Ken attended Fort Hays State University on a track scholarship and graduated in 1963, with a BA in Business Administration.
Ken spent most of his career working as a claim examiner/ manager of claim departments for several Life Insurance Companies. This brought him to Fort Worth, Tx., in 1976, and then to Arlington in 1978. He went to work for Tarrant Appraisal District as a Personal Property Appraiser in 1984. Ken retired 23 years later in 2007.
Ken was a member of Fielder Road Baptist Church for 30 years, where he served as an usher, Sunday School Class Director, and member of the Senior Choir. He led Bible Study I witnessed in the Fort Worth Men’s Prison Ministry; attended Bible Study Fellowship 15 years, acting as a Discussion Leader 10 of those years. He volunteered at Mission Arlington for 5 years.
He joined Pleasantview Baptist Church in July, 2021.
Ken is survived by his wife, Susan Richards; two sons, Bradley Richards and Douglas Richards; one daughter, Karen Richards Granger. Six grandchildren and one great grandson. Three granddaughters: Kacie Richards Lewis, Kaitlyn Granger, and Haley Richards Thorpe.
Three Grandsons: Cody Richards, Cameron Richards, and Jaret Granger One great grandson, Cade Richards. Two daughters-in-law: Jeannie Richards married to Brad, and Isabella Richards married to Doug; one son-in-law, Jeff Granger, married to Karen; one sister, Sara McDougal.
