Arlington, Texas - Keith Edward Reed, of Arlington, TX, passed away on Friday, June 18, 2021, in Arlington, TX. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, friend, and colleague to all that knew and loved him. Interment: 10 a.m. Friday, July 2, at Moore Memorial Gardens, Arlington. Memo-rial Service: 11:15 a.m. Fri-day, July 2, at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. He was born on Saturday, June 30, 1934, in Hamilton, TX to Wayne and Mattie Reed. Keith attended Hamilton High School and Arlington State College. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Keith loved gardening and took an interest in genealogy research. He married the love of his life Barbara Sankey on Friday, October 10, 1958. After graduating high school, he immediately volunteered for the US Army at the age of 17. After a tour of duty in Korea, he returned to the US and found employment with the US Post Office in Dallas. From there he sought employment with the City of Arlington as a warehouse manager. He went on to Purchasing Agent then Director of Finance where he finished his career with the city and retired in 1983.He went on to form his own company with partner Jack Stowe called Reed-Stowe. They worked with cities seeking equitable rates for utilities for years.He then went solo and formed Reed Municipal Services, a utility management company counting the city of North Richland Hills as a client for several years and finally retiring September 2020. Retirement gave him an opportunity to focus on his passion of genealogy research, gardening and creating annual award-winning Christmas lights display of his home for the Interlochen Tour of Lights.That remains his legacy today. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Mattie Reed; sisters, Anne Fuqua, Willie Merlene “Shug” Smith and Pauline “Polly” Landis. He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Reed; daughter, Julie Colley (Doug); sons, Michael (Susie), Greg (Patricia); grandsons, Sloan and Jake; numerous nieces and nephews.
