Kathryn Lynn Key Griffin, 65, passed away at home on April 10, 2021 in Arlington, Texas, surrounded and supported by her family and friends. Kathi was born on August 19th, 1955 in Furstenfeldbruck, Germany to Clarence David Key of Electra, Texas, and Clara Mae Edwards Key, of Hobart, Oklahoma. The family was stationed in Germany, and later moved to Mount Holly, New Jersey. After her father's retirement from the U.S. Air Force, the family moved to Greenville, Texas, and Arlington, Texas, where Kathi attended Bailey Junior High and Arlington High School. The family then moved to Parsippany, New Jersey where Kathi graduated from Parsippany High School.
When Kathi returned to Texas to attend TCU, she met the love of her life, Don Griffin. Kathi and Don were married on June 28, 1975. They raised two beautiful children, David Griffin and Rachel O'Mahoney. Through the years the Griffin family enjoyed camping with friends and family. Kathi loved to cook, and she loved spending time with her grandchildren. Kathi's infectious laugh and joy in life will be missed.
Kathi volunteered with the Welcome House of Arlington and St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church. She worked at Arlington High School and at Harte Hanks before retiring.
Kathi is survived by her husband of 46 years, Don Griffin, their son, David Griffin and his wife, Kendra Griffin, daughter, Rachel Griffin O'Mahoney and husband, Skie O'Mahoney. Kathi was blessed with seven grandchildren, Madison, Blake, Keolani, Aven, Marley, Meleani, and Kaleo. She is also survived by her sisters, Karla Key Acuff of Dallas, and her husband, George, and Karrie Key of Austin, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Many thanks to Kathi's friend, Megan Miller, who was by Kathi's side during hospice, and the love of family and friends who helped support Kathi and her family. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 2 from 2 to 4 at The Lakehouse on Lake Arlington at 6300 W. Arkansas Lane in Arlington, Texas 76016. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Casa of Tarrant County.
