Kathleen Rice

Kathleen "Kathie" Rice, 73, passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at her home in Arlington, Tx . Visitation for family and friends will be on Monday, August 2nd, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington, Tx 76013. A Graveside Service will be on Tuesday, August 3rd at 10:00 a.m. at Shannon Rose Hill Memorial Park, 7301 E. Lancaster Ave, Fort Worth, Tx 76112. Eddie Parrish and Heath Stapleton will officiate Kathleen's service. Shane Rice, Chance Orr, Caleb Orr, Alex Yelverton, Eric Orr and Trey Yelverton will serve as pallbearers. Kathie was born in Santa Cruz, New Mexico on November 10, 1947 to Floyd Earl and Helen (Purvis) Tims. She married the love of her life, Larry Kent Rice, on January 2, 1964. Larry and Kathie raised two daughters and one son. In 1997, Larry and Kathie moved to Arlington from Odessa, Texas. She was a woman of great faith and was a member of the Church of Christ, teaching a 4th grade Sunday School class at Brown Trail Church of Christ in Bedford. Everyone knew Kathie as a very kind spirit who enjoyed reading, shopping, music, cooking, and her cats. Her specialty was German chocolate cake, complete with an extra bowl of icing just for Larry. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and her children each considered her to be their best friend. She loved her sisters Floy, Susan, and Cheryl deeply and they referred to themselves as the "Sunflower Sisters". Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, and oldest sister, Donna Sanders. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Larry; one son, Shane Rice; two daughters Shana Yelverton and husband, Trey and Kassie Orr and husband, Eric; sisters, Floy Elam, Susan Tims, and Cheryl Bookout. She was also loved and adored by her grandchildren, Chance Orr, Caleb Orr, Elizabeth Yelverton and Alex Yelverton, her cat "Sweetie," and many other beloved family members.
