Kathleen Ann Mulkerin, a loving wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and esteemed member of her community, peacefully passed away on December 16, 2023, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Braddock, PA on February 13, 1948, Kathi was the beloved daughter of the late Robert E. Nelson and Kathleen H. Frost Nelson.
Kathi’s journey through life was marked by a deep and enduring love. On August 31, 1968, she married the love of her life, Thomas Mulkerin, and together they created a beautiful life. They raised their two children in Monroeville, PA, and in 1992, they embarked on a new chapter, relocating to Arlington, TX, where they have since resided.
During her time in Arlington, Kathi seamlessly integrated into her new community. She dedicated herself to various endeavors, including teaching Sunday School at St. Andrew’s Methodist Church for two decades. Kathi took immense pride in watching the children she taught grow into remarkable individuals. She was an active member of the Citizen’s Police Academy Alumni Association and Santa Cops, embracing her “Blue Family” with passion. Kathi was also a proud member of Beta Sigma Phi, fostering lifelong connections.
Kathi was the beloved sister of Richard (Karen) Nelson and John (Theresa) Nelson. She was a source of strength and love to her family, surviving her by her loving husband, Thomas Mulkerin. Kathi was a guiding light to her children, Tawnie (Jeff) Marcus and Thomas (Misty) Mulkerin and Rhonda Berbert who she has consider a daughter for more than two decades.
Her legacy of love extends to her grandchildren, Max (Jazmin) Burdick, Ashley (David) Marcus, Morgan Beman, Adam Marcus, Kade Mulkerin, Trent Marick, and Haylee Marick. Kathi’s most cherished promotion came with the title of Great Grandmother to Alyssa, Nolan, Kennedy, Lilly, Kate, and Tanor, along with many nieces and nephews
Kathi was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Kathleen Nelson; her mother and father-in law, Frank and Nellie Mulkerin; two sisters, Mary Ann Nelson and Sandra Selepec; and brother-in-law, Danny Selepec.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 21, from 2-8 p.m. at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington.

As as way goodbye to this remarkable woman, let us remember her for the love she shared, the lives she touched, and the indomitable spirit that defined her. May she find eternal peace, and may her memory continue to inspire us all.
