Karen Mary Annetta Ragsdill

November 11, 1942 — September 23, 2018

Karen Mary Annetta Ragsdill (nee Blackburn) 1942-2018 It is with great sadness that the family of Karen Mary Annetta Ragsdill announce her peaceful passing in the early morning of Sunday September 23rd 2018. Mom will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 54 years, Jimmie and her sons Jody and Jamie and daughters in law Holly and Kelly. She will also be greatly missed by her 5 grandchildren Mackenzie, Megan, Merideth, Max and Renee. Karen will be forever remembered by her sister Danielle, her husband John and nephews Sean and wife Alana and Grant and wife Sonja and their children Brooke, Liam and Kaija. Mom was preceded in death by her parents Daniel and Mildred Blackburn, sister Heather and son Kyle. Born November 11th 1942 to Mildred and Daniel Blackburn in Manitoba, Canada, Karen was forever focused on her family and her flowers. Her family (both immediate and extended) and home (Canada and later in life Texas) were of the utmost importance to her as was her interest in gardening. Karen was involved in community activities in Valley Gardens where she was a Den mother in both her sons Beavers and Cub Scout programs as well as co-authoring a Tinkerbelles program for young girls in Winnipeg. She was very active in coordinating and volunteering for many political campaigns both for her husband and friends. After moving to Arlington Texas, Karen would find her next passion in her work with Planned Parenthood. The work and its impact in her community as well as the friends made (the Ya Ya's) were very important to her. Retiring in 2008, mom would pour her focus in her flower gardens around her home and loved her “trips home” to Canada whenever possible to see her sister, family and friends. Her presence will be deeply missed. Memorial donations or support to the further study and fight against Alzheimer's are greatly appreciated. Wade Family Funeral Home (817) 274-9233
