ARLINGTON -- Karen Elizabeth Rickard, 74, passed away Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014, in Mansfield.
Memorial service: 11 a.m. Friday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations be made in Karen's name to a charity of choice.
Karen was born Dec. 11, 1940, in Kingman, Kan., the second child and only daughter of Arthur H. and Harriet B. Kaufman. She grew up in rural Kansas, Wichita and Augusta. Karen graduated from Augusta High School in 1958, attended Southwestern College in Kansas for one year and Kansas State for one year, majoring in history. She married Roger L. Rickard of Andover, Kan., in July 1960. After four years in Denver, Colo., and four years in Wichita, Kan., the family moved to Arlington in 1969 when Roger got a job at what was then Ling-Tempco-Vought. Karen was active in Cub Scouting for many years at Thornton Elementary. She was also active in PTA and was awarded a lifetime membership certificate. Her later years were spent enjoying grandchildren.
Karen enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and other arts and crafts.
She will be greatly missed by her family.
Survivors: Husband, Roger; son, Jay Rickard and wife, Martha, of San Jose, Calif.; son, Cecil Rickard and wife, Betty, of Arlington; grandchildren, Luis Salinas (Jeanette), Cindy Salinas, Greg Salinas and Lauren Rickard; daughter, Kristina McClain and fiance, Wayne Burgess, of Arlington; granddaughters, Heather and Megan; son, David Rickard of Los Angeles, Calif.; brother, John A. Kaufman of Augusta, Kan.; and 11 great-grandchildren.
