Judy Elaine Herrmann

Judy Elaine Shipp Herrmann of Harker Heights passed away Sunday, July 30th, 2017 in Arlington, Texas at the age of 73 after a lengthy illness surrounded by family. Graveside services: will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Nolanville on Sunday, August 6th at 10AM. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday August 6th from 2-4 PM at Shilo Inn Suites Hotel in Killeen. Judy was born July 31, 1943 in Hanford, CA, to Harold Shipp and Constance Cheney Shipp. As the daughter of an Air Force officer, she graduated high school in Great Falls, MT. She went on to complete her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at the University of Mary Hardin Baylor while juggling being a military spouse with three young children. She then taught chemistry for 30 years at Killeen High School in Killeen, TX, where she was loved by her students and received numerous awards. She also taught science methods to future teachers for more than a decade while teaching and also obtaining a PhD from Texas A&M University. After retiring from teaching at Killeen ISD in 2004, Judy taught nursing chemistry at the University of Mary Hardin Baylor and fulfilled her dream of becoming a master gardener. Judy was a loving wife and mother, a passionate educator, an avid master gardener, and a great cook and baker, who never let the cookie jar or bread drawer run empty of homemade goodies. Many a high school friend dropped by for Mom's cookies. She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson. Survivors: Judy leaves behind her husband of 53 years, William George Herrmann II, her three children, Rick Herrmann and wife Suzanne Herrmann of Mansfield, Texas, Katrina Herrmann Emoto and husband Todd Emoto of Spanaway, Washington, Theresa (Herrmann) Stroumpos and husband George Stroumpos of Friendswood, Texas and eight granddaughters.
