Judith Anne Bixler (Kraxberger), of Arlington, Texas, a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend, with the biggest smile who made the best cookies passed away on February 9, 2023 at the age of 76. Born in Denver, Colorado on March 6 to Warren and Verlene Ruth Kraxberger, she grew up with her three brothers Larry, Dave and Steve, Studebakers and the Colorado mountains.
After graduation from Ft. Collins High School, Judy attended Abilene Christian College as a Home Economics major and married Harley D. Bixler on June 4, 1966 at Park Hill Church of Christ in Denver, Colorado. She worked as an Executive secretary at Fidelity Advertising and for the Vice President of Champlin Petroleum.
She and Harley together opened Bixler’s Cleaners in Grand Prairie – which serviced Dallas, Fort Worth and every surrounding city. As Harley said, “Judy was Public Relations Director, and a key reason for the success of the business.” She was the most amazing mom in the whole world (list of reasons too long to include). She enjoyed adventures with her family and friends, while cooking, skiing, and traveling (then delivering clothes and baking cookies!). Judy worked for American Airlines for 17 years in the Platinum Advantage Group. She also served with the Junior League of Arlington for 30+ years – specifically the womens’ shelter bringing women and their children to safety. She also enjoyed NGA.
Harley and Judy were blessed to enjoy 56 years of marriage. Judy is survived by her faithful husband Harley, two daughters, Meredith (engaged to Peter Drogin), and Gretchen (Bixler) Barber, son-in-law Michael W. Barber, and three grandchildren, Samuel Hewitt, Joseph Warren, and Caroline Ruth. Judy is also survived by her three brothers: Larry Kraxberger and his wife Pat, Dave Kraxberger and his wife Linda, Steve Kraxberger and his wife Dede; and her nieces and nephews: Brook Christenbury and her husband Craig and children; Petra Ray and her husband Brian and children; Trista Hudson and her husband Davy and children; Jill Spiva and her husband Jonathan and children; Nathan Kraxberger and children; Matt Kraxberger and his wife Erin, as well as Lucas, and Mike Kraxberger and his wife Abby.
We are also very thankful for Lorena and Gregg Bordelon who helped Harley care lovingly for her. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Arlington, TX on February 25, 2023 at 2pm. Memorialization will be at the National Cemetery Dallas at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Friendship Class, Sue Lavender at First Presbyterian Church in Arlington, 1200 South Collins Street, Arlington. TX 76010.
