Arlington

"Charm is one of the many layers of this complicated woman. Judy was a creative woman with many talents."

Judith Robertson LaSalle, 93, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2025, in Arlington, Texas. Born June 19, 1931, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, one year before her father graduated from medical school. Judith was the daughter of Alexander David and Dorothy Virginia (Fritzinger) Robertson. Her early life was marked by the many moves that came with her father's work, which took her to various schools, including elementary school in Willard, Ohio, junior high school in Pawling, New York, and high school in Ashland, Ohio, where she graduated in 1949.

In that same year, Judith was accepted to Ohio Wesleyan University, where she earned a Bachelor's in Fine Arts, majoring in Interior Design and minoring in Fashion Illustration. Judith was a proud member of the Delta Delta Sorority and Delta Phi Delta Art honorary. It was also during this time that she met and married Richard Miller LaSalle. Together, they raised three children: Laura, Bill, and Richard.

In the early years of motherhood, Judy devoted herself to being a stay-at-home mom, where her children were blessed with her artistic talents and creativity. Whether it was through her unique and delicious meals, intricate enameling, oil and acrylic paintings, or beautiful handmade plush dolls and needlework, Judy created memories that her children and grandchildren will cherish forever.

In the mid-1970s, Judy returned to work, using her talents as an illustrator for Cox's Department Store, where she designed for their catalog. Judith was the manager for Project Child Find for the Education Service Center of the Fort Worth Independent School District as well as a substitute teacher. In addition to her artistic and entrepreneurial pursuits, Judy worked as an Adjunct Reading Teacher, helping children develop a love for reading. Her reassuring smile, kind heart, and desire to make the world a better place were qualities she carried into every aspect of her life. She later co-owned The Christmas Store , in Fort Worth that stayed open year-round as well as A Merry Heart Wholesale Design, a reflection of her love for the festive season. Judith was a designer for Meredith Publishing, Better Homes and Gardens as well as many other publications. Also, Judith was a coordinator for Junior Woman's Club of Fort Worth and The Woman's Club of Fort Worth. One of her most beloved work experiences was managing The Tea Room at the Woman's Club of Fort Worth where she relished socializing with members and organizing activities.

Judy's love of travel took her to many countries, including Scotland, England, and Germany, where she delighted in visiting Christmas markets, a favorite destination. But, above all, her greatest joy was being at home with her children, sharing love and warmth with her family as well as being an elder of Ridglea Presbyterian Church. Judith expressed great joy in being a volunteer for the Fort Worth and Arlington Schools, Cook Children's Hospital and volunteering  for The Warm Place.

Judy’s devotion to her children and her legacy of love for them remained the most important part of her life. Judy was a mother, grandmother, and friend who defined love in all the most meaningful ways. She is survived by her children, Laura LaSalle Still (Glenn), William Robertson LaSalle (Susan), and Richard Alexander LaSalle (Dale). Her granddaughters, Constance LaSalle, Lauren LaSalle, Mary Elizabeth Hale (Sean), and great granddaughter, Lily Katherine Hale, whose love brought her immense joy in her later years. Judy's sister, Jane Robertson Mossbarger, and parents Dr. A.D. Robertson and Dorothy V. Robertson, predeceased her.

A memorial service will be held at noon on Friday, March 7, at St. Barnabas United Methodist Church, Arlington for all to celebrate her life and the lasting impact she had on all who knew her.

Judy will be deeply missed but never forgotten, her memory is a lasting testament to her love and the beauty she brought to the world.
