Judith Robertson LaSalle, 93, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2025, in Arlington, Texas. Born June 19, 1931, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Judith was the daughter of Alexander David and Dorothy Virginia (Fritzinger) Robertson. Her early life was marked by the many moves that came with her father's work, which took her to various schools, including elementary school in Willard, Ohio, junior high school in Pawling, New York, and high school in Ashland, Ohio, where she graduated in 1949.
In that same year, Judith was accepted to Ohio Wesleyan University, where she earned a Bachelor's in Fine Arts, majoring in Interior Design and minoring in Fashion Illustration. It was also during this time that she met and married Richard Miller LaSalle. Together, they raised three children: Laura, Bill, and Dickie.
In the early years of motherhood, Judy devoted herself to being a stay-at-home mom, where her children were blessed with her artistic talents and creativity. Whether it was through her unique and delicious meals, intricate enameling, oil and acrylic paintings, or beautiful handmade plush dolls and needlework, Judy created memories that her children and grandchildren will cherish forever.
In the mid-1970s, Judy returned to work, using her talents as an illustrator for Cox's Department Store, where she designed apparel for their catalog. Even after leaving Cox's, her artwork remained part of the company's materials. She later opened a Christmas store that stayed open year-round, a reflection of her love for the festive season. One of her most beloved work experiences was managing the Fort Worth Women's Tea Room, where she relished socializing with members and organizing activities.
Judy's love of travel took her to many countries, including Scotland, England, and Germany, where she delighted in visiting Christmas markets, a favorite destination. But, above all, her greatest joy was being at home with her children, sharing love and warmth with her family.
In addition to her artistic and entrepreneurial pursuits, Judy worked as an Adjunct Reading Teacher, helping children develop a love for reading. Her reassuring smile, kind heart, and desire to make the world a better place were qualities she carried into every aspect of her life.
Though she and Richard divorced in 1986, Judy’s devotion to her children and her legacy of love for them remained unwavering. Judy was a mother, grandmother, and friend who defined love in all the most meaningful ways. She is survived by her children, Laura, Bill, and Dickie, as well as her grandchildren, whose love brought her immense joy in her later years.
A memorial service will be held at noon on Friday, March 7, at St. Barnabas United Methodist Church, Arlington for family and close friends to celebrate her life and the lasting impact she had on all who knew her.
Judy will be deeply missed but never forgotten, her memory is a lasting testament to her love and the beauty she brought to the world.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a local literacy program or charity of choice in Judy’s honor.
