Judith Ann Dutson was born on November 7, 1939, in Johnson City, New York to Samuel and Susanna Juriga. Judy passed away peacefully on October 4, 2022 at the age of 82, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Judy grew up in upstate New York and enjoyed spending time reading, doing gymnastics, gardening, and helping her family at their Christmas tree farm. After graduating high school, Judy attended Michigan State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. Afterwards, Judy began teaching math to grades 7-12. Her career spanned over 20 years and including teaching in both New York and Texas. Judy went on to obtain her master’s degree from Corpus Christi State University in Curriculum & Instruction with an emphasis in elementary mathematics. When not in a classroom, Judy conducted regional workshops for the Educational Service Centers in Texas and wrote several mathematical educational materials. She finished her career teaching courses at Del Mar College and Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi.
Judy was also a proud member of MENSA, the high IQ society. Judy was also proud to be member of the First United Methodist Church in Corpus Christi, Texas. She had a lifelong love of reading and could always be found with a book in hand. She also enjoyed doing crafts. She loved crocheting and quilting and most of her family received one of her hand creations. Judy loved her family most of all.
She is survived by two daughters Sheree Perkins (Eric Perkins) and Melanie Carr (Hancl Carr). She has five grandchildren Samantha Collier (Zack Collier), Jared Perkins, Kelsey Kliebert Toler (Ellis Toler), Zachary Perkins, and Landon Perkins. Finally, she had one great-grandchild, Braxton (Sammie & Zack Collier).
Services will be held at 2:00 pm on October 22, 2022, at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 West Pioneer Parkway, Arlington, Texas. All are welcome to attend.
