Joyce Simpson Oglesby, 82, died Saturday, July 22, 2017, following a brief illness. We celebrate her life, her faith in Jesus, and her impact on those around her.
VISITATION: 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 25, at Wade Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington.
SERVICE: 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 26, at Wade Funeral Home, with interment following at Moore Memorial Gardens in Arlington.
MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Metroplex Women's Clinic, 5150 S. Collins, Arlington, TX 76018.
Joyce was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, cared for as an infant by her grandmother, Mary Helen Simpson, before she grew up at the Mississippi Baptist Orphanage in Jackson, Mississippi. She graduated from Central High School in Jackson and received her degree in Bible and Commerce from Blue Mountain College in Blue Mountain, Mississippi. Throughout her life, she excelled at everything she was a part of. She served faithfully in several churches as a pastor's wife, taught many Sunday School and Bible study groups, spent her career as an elementary and middle school teacher where she impacted countless children both in Mississippi and Texas, and volunteered in many capacities in her church, Fielder Church, and at the Metroplex Women's Clinic in Arlington. Joyce loved Jesus and everyone she met. She leaves a legacy of her faith to her family and others who will greatly miss her as wife, mom, aunt mom, meme, and friend.
She was preceded in death by her father, mother and two sisters.
SURVIVORS: Joyce is survived by her husband of almost 29 years, J.D. Oglesby; Son, Dr. Chris Smith (Trudy); Daughters, Angela Joyce Snyder (Tony) and Beth Smith Marble (Ken); Stepdaughters, Susan Oglesby Hynes (Rick) and Janet Oglesby Staggs (Neil); Stepson, Robert Wade Oglesby (Theresa); Fifteen grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.
