Joyce Marie Barker

Joyce Marie Barker was born July 12, 1939, in Albany, Texas, to parents Pauline and JR Hill. Our sweet Mom (Memaw as she was known to her precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren) went home to be with Jesus on November 5, 2023.

Joyce married the love of her life, Harvey Lee Barker Sr, on December 10, 1953. Since faith and family meant everything to her, it was on this date that her tremendous legacy began to take shape. Joyce and Harvey would have five sons: Harvey Jr., Dewain, Ronald, Donald, and Kevin. Their five sons would then marry Janet Marie, Jan, Janet Sue, Page, and Dani who would become the loving daughters Joyce never had. The five sons and their wives would then add 13 grandchildren to the Barker family, followed by 30 great-grandchildren and with many more still to come.

Mom (Memaw) loved spending time with all of them and always enjoyed the Annual Barker Bowl Event when the families of her five sons would come together for a family devotion time followed by fun games, activities, and competition — all for a coveted trophy that would jokingly be stolen, hidden, moved around the world, but later to always reappear on schedule for the next Barker Bowl event.

In a few weeks, Joyce and Harvey were to celebrate 70 years of marriage with a dance as they’ve always done. Having that dance and being with her precious family is what kept her motivated for the past few months as her health declined.

Her oldest son Harvey Lee, Jr. and his wife Janet Barker. They have three children and five grandchildren. They are Trey (Harvey Lee III) and his wife, Bethany, with their children Payton, Paxton, and Paisley. William and his wife, Stacy, with their children, Knox and Jax. And Harvey and Janet’s youngest son, Jake, and his wife, Delaney.

Her son Dewain and his wife Jan Barker. They have three children and eight grandchildren. They are Brance and his wife, Michelle, and their children Wren, Canaan, Hutch, Brent, and Cliff. Their daughter, Whitney Gary, and her husband, Scott, with their children, Megan, Emily, and Michael. And Dewain and Jan’s youngest son, Brian, and his wife, Abigail.

Her twin son Ronald and his wife Janet Barker. They have two children and six grandchildren. They are Alex and his children Gracie and Matthew. Their daughter, Sarah Fazin, and her husband, Anthony, with their children Ethan, Owen, Levi, and Finn.

Her twin son Donald and his wife Page Barker. They have three children and eleven grandchildren. They are Brandon and his wife, Ericha, with their children Eve, John, Max, Luke, James, and Jude. Their daughter, Brynn McNellis, and her husband, Jake, with their daughters Jaida and Madison. And their daughter, Brittany Foster, and her husband, Alix, with their children Hannah, Eli, and Jonah.

Her youngest son Kevin and his wife Dani Barker. They have two children, Logan and Adyson.
Logan is married to his wife, Hannah.

Mom/Memaw, you have taught us well about faith and family, and you will be greatly missed. But we are so very happy that you are now able to rest peacefully in the arms of Jesus while your legacy here on earth continues to grow, serve, and influence others.
