Joyce Dephane Smith

Joyce Dephane Smith of Arlington, Texas passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on January 4, 2023.

Joyce was born in Weatherford, Texas on July 8, 1932 to Mamie Clara Bernard and Almouth Webster Littlefield. She attended Robert E. Lee High School and was the drum major and captain of the girls’ basketball team.

After graduating in 1950, Joyce married the love of her life, Richard Lucian “Dick” Smith and they remained married until his death in 2014.

The Lord gave Joyce a life-long passion for music. She used that gift well and served as church pianist from the age of 14 until her death at the age of 90. In fact, she played at the Sunday church service the week before her death.

Of all the things Joyce accomplished in her life, her greatest achievement was accepting Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents Mamie Clara Bernard and Almouth Webster Littlefield, husband Richard L. “Dick” Smith, son Jon Mark Smith and daughter Debra Kay Smith.

She is survived by daughter Pamela Dawn Tomlin, son-in-law Reuben Earnest Tomlin and sister Glenda Gay Thomas.

The Lords sent many special friends into Joyce’s life. We are grateful for so many precious family and friends who enjoyed the trip along life’s journey with us. Sister Glenda Thomas, Pat Starr, Fred Crawford, Darrel Avenshine, Sharon Wells, Marion & Judy Warren and Pastor Jeff Watson.

A celebration of Joyce’s life will be held at Northwest Baptist Church on Friday, January 13 at 11:00am with a visitation to begin one hour before at 10:00am. A graveside service and burial will follow at Moore Memorial Gardens at 12:30.
