In Loving Memory of Josh Ray Allen

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Josh Ray Allen, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Ray’s remarkable journey began on September 12, 1937, in his hometown Caddo, OK. Throughout his life, he brought joy and kindness to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Ray’s legacy of love will forever remain in our hearts.

Ray will be deeply missed by his devoted wife, Melody Allen, with whom he shared a beautiful and cherished bond for fifty remarkable years. Together, they created a lifetime of precious memories filled with love, laughter, and adventure. Melody stood by his side through thick and thin. Her unwavering support and love enriched his life in countless ways.

His children, Lonnie Ray Allen and wife Joni, Donna Lynn Ward, Stacy Carol Duke, and Anthony Wells, Jr., will forever hold their father’s love and guidance close to their hearts. Ray’s presence brightened their lives, and his love will continue to ignite their souls.

The joy in Ray’s life extended to his precious grandchildren: Josh Allen, Chelsea Allen, Anthony Wells, III, Cole Surratt, Savannah Ward, Kalli Ward, Emily Duke, great-grandson, Keegan Allen, and his great-granddaughter, Makayla Allen. Their grandpa’s laughter and gentle wisdom will forever be treasured.

Ray worked as a machinist for Bell Helicopter for over thirty years, and retired in 1999.

Josh Ray Allen was a man of many passions. He found solace and excitement in the outdoors, spending countless joyful hours hunting quail and pheasant, as well as engaging in the art of skeet shooting. A true sports enthusiast, he cheered passionately for both the OU Sooners and Dallas Cowboys, forever loyal to his beloved teams.

In addition to his love of sports, Ray possessed a musical talent that charmed all those who had the pleasure of hearing him play the guitar and violin. His melodious voice filled the room, enriching the lives of those around him. Whenever he whistled a tune, it brought a smile to everyone’s face.

Ray’s unwavering faith led him to become a charter member of Mayfield Road Baptist Church, where he found immense joy in worship and fellowship. His strong belief in God was the foundation of his gentle and caring spirit.

Countless memories were made during his family vacations to Red River, where he, his beloved wife, and his brother Buddy, alongside his wife Margaret, reveled in the breathtaking scenery and created unforgettable moments.

Though our hearts ache at the thought of saying goodbye, we are comforted knowing that Ray is now at peace, surrounded by the everlasting love of those who have gone before him.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Jewell Allen, his sisters Dortha Mitchell and Joy Joslin, brother Buddy Allen and infant brother Jimmy.

Please join us as we gather to Celebrate the Life of Josh Ray Allen on Friday, September 22, 2023, at 2 pm. The service will be held at Wade Funeral Home, where we will honor the incredible man who brought love and happiness to our lives.

The family kindly requests donations be made to Mission First Arlington, in honor of Ray’s unwavering faith and commitment to his community.

Though the world may seem a little dimmer without Ray’s bright smile, his spirit will forever shine through in the hearts and memories of all who had the privilege of knowing him. Let us remember him as the compassionate, loving, and joy-filled soul that he was, and may his legacy continue to inspire us all.
