Josephine “Jo” Marie Overman, 85, passed away with her daughter, Teresa Collins, and her loving family at her side on Friday, April 10, 2020 in Fort Worth, Tx.
She will be buried on Tuesday, April 21st, 10:15 a.m. at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
Jo was born on November 10, 1934, to Clifton and Daisy Ann (Kemp) Farris In Boswell, OK.
She was a resident of Tool, Texas for 35 years and retired from her job as a dental specialist, molding porcelain dentures in her home. Jo attended the Baptist Church and enjoyed using her talents as a porcelain artist and making dolls, gardening, and had a beautiful rose and azalea garden. She enjoyed square dancing and was known for her wonderful cooking. She also loved to fish and taught her children to fish, topping it off with a family fish fry unequalled by any others! She prided herself in being a homemaker and taking care of her family was always her first priority.
Jo was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Carroll J. Overman in 2019, and her son, Terry John Ward in 2018, sisters, Jean Brinkley and Maxine Luna, and a brother, Johnny Farris.
She is survived by one son, Mike Overman and four daughters, Teresa Collins, Joyce Apel (Charles), Jan Ackerman (Fred) and Kathy Cummings (Mike), sisters, Virginia Jones and Dora Minyard. “Mamaw” also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, Jeffrey John Ward (Heather) , Ricky Joe Busby (Julie), Valarie Gail Lockwood, Gayla Marie Gibson, Carrie Ann Richards (Josh), Zachary John Ward, B. Charles Apel II, Ashley Marie Hicks, Cary Arthur Apel, Mark Douglas Apel, Alexander Aaron Cummings, and Jace Michael Cummings and great-grandchildren, Taylor Alexis Lockwood, Brynlea Marie Gibson, Logan Grace Lockwood, Presleigh Abigail Busby, Carson Joseph Busby, Tyler Sherer, Alexis Richards, Delilah and Elizabeth Richards and many others. Jo will also be missed by a host of loving nieces and nephews.
