Johnny Richard "Jr" Lewis

Johnny Richard “JR” Lewis, age 78, went to be with the Lord on December 2, 2021 at his home in Grand Prairie, Texas.

JR was born in San Diego, California, on February 13, 1943. He was the first child of Elroy and Evelyn Lewis. JR was raised by grandparents, Hershel and Beulah Hannon, along with his mother and step-father, Evelyn and Eldon Hamilton. Growing up, he attended school in Grand Prairie, Texas. He met his high school sweetheart, Carolyn, at the Grand Prairie Rec Center and they were married in July of 1960.

As a machinist that assembled aircraft parts, JR was employed for 25 years at Bell Helicopter. In his free time, he enjoyed playing golf, fishing, horseback riding and numerous other outdoor activities. He loved camping trips and spending time with his family.

JR was a wonderful, Christian man with a strong faith in the Lord. He was a member of Myers Road Baptist Church as well as Trinity Baptist Church. He loved his friends and family deeply. He was a down-to-earth country boy who loved his boots and jeans, and spending time doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles.

JR was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Evelyn and Eldon Hamilton; father, Elroy Lewis; Grandparents, Hershel and Beulah Hannon; Sister, Linda Pack; Mother- and Father-in-Law, Nick and Kathryn Cotham; and Sister-in-Law, Lois Warren.

Survivors: Wife, Carolyn Lewis; Daughter, Diana (Ronald) Loken; Son, Jeffrey (Alicia) Lewis; Granddaughter, Krystina (Justin Newcomer) Lewis; Granddaughter, Jessica (Jason) Hutcherson; Grandson, Jonathan (Molly Grannan) Loken; Granddaughter, Stephanie (Paul) Geeslin; a gaggle of great-grandchildren; Brother, James (Sherry) Lewis; and many extended relatives.

Funeral Service: Thursday, December 9th at 1:00 p.m. Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Pkwy, Arlington, 76013. Graveside to follow at Grand Prairie Memorial Gardens, 3001 S. Belt Line Rd, Grand Prairie, 75052.
