Johnny Odomore-Irinms, age 69, passed away at Medical City Arlington after battling Covid-19.
Johnny was born in Benin City, Nigeria to Sylvester and Alice Osadolor where he lived with his 9 brothers and sisters who popularly called him Abela. Johnny attended the Salvation Army School Ebute - Betta then moved to Lagos as a young adult where he worked hard to make a life for himself. In 1980, Johnny moved to Boston, Massachusetts to realize the American dream he often heard about as a young man in Nigera. A few years later, he returned to Benin where he met Itohan Ikuwe who, on June 30, 1990, would become his wife and the mother of his 3 children.
Johnny is survived by his wife Itohan Odomore-Irinms, and his 3 children, Amenze, Iguehita, and Jade Odomore-Irinms.
Johnny loved cinematography and spending quality time with his 3 daughters over Chinese cuisines. He also enjoyed capturing memories in photographs and videos for many to watch and share in his joy or playing with children who reminded him of the newness and freedoms of life. His favorite quote to live and abide by:
“I am not in this world to live up to your expectation.
You are not in this world to live up to mine.
You are You
I am I
But if we find ourselves, and our minds meet,
It is beautiful.”
-Fritz Perls
