ARLINGTON -- Johnny Lee Hoskey, 85, passed away Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, in Fort Worth. Funeral: 11 a.m. Thursday at Tate Springs Baptist Church, 4201 Little Road, Arlington. Interment: Emerald Hills Memorial Park, Kennedale. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Born Nov. 8, 1927, in New Boston, John was raised on the family farm by his mother, grandmother and eight uncles until he was 10 years old. He graduated from Alvin High School where he played football. He joined the Army in 1946 where he served as a surgical tech. He Married Ernestine Knight on Dec. 19, 1950, and would have celebrated 63 years of marriage on Wednesday. John graduated from Texas Christian University and in 1954 obtained his degree in physical therapy from Grady Vaughn School of Physical Therapy at Baylor University Hospital in Dallas. He opened the first physical therapy department at St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Worth and headed the department for over 35 years. During this time he also had a private practice and worked in sports medicine for 13 years before retiring. John was an active member of Tate Springs Baptist Church in Arlington for 47 years and served faithfully as a deacon for 43 years as well as a Sunday school teacher and mentor to many preteen boys. Survivors: Wife, Ernestine Hoskey; daughters, Marsha Waddelow and husband, Dave and Melissa Arnold; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and his precious and loving dog, Raschal.
