John Willie Breed

Colonel John W. “Buddy” Breed Jr. (Retired), 86, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away on Friday, January 18, 2019 in Fort Worth. Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 29, at St. Rita Catholic Church, 5550 E. Lancaster Ave., Fort Worth. Interment: 2:00 p.m., Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas. Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Monday, January 28, at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Memorials: Memorial gifts may be made to St. Rita Catholic Church or Universal Hospice. John was born on September 30, 1932 in Fort Worth to John Willie Breed Sr. and Bobbie Juanita Breed. He was a graduate of the historic I. M. Terrell High School (1951) in Fort Worth, Texas and Prairie View A&M College (1955) in Prairie View, Texas. John married Freddie L. Jeter of Houston. They were married 56 years before she passed away in 2011. John graduated as a Commissioned Officer (Lieutenant) of the Army. He served in the U.S. Army Infantry during the Korean Conflict and the Army Reserves before retiring as Colonel in 1992. In addition, beginning in the early 1960's, John worked as a Line Assembler at General Motors and as a GM Security Officer before retiring in 1995. He was a longtime member of St. Rita Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, the Bereavement Ministry and Guys With God. Survivors: Sons, John W. Breed III and wife, Marilyn, Anthony J. Breed and wife, Sherry, Clifford B. Breed, and Bobby V. Breed, Sr., and wife, Charletta; daughters, Freda A. Breed, Climonce M. Castleberry and husband, Walter, and Valerie Y. Banks and husband, Jessie; brother, Joel Breed; sister, Maxine Cox; grandchildren, Christina, Tiffany, Bobby Jr., Mary, Lydia, Milton, Robbin, Clifford John, Jessica, Mercy and Grace; and great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Aniyah, Armani, Kaitlin, A'Liyah Jade, Ashanti and Alijah along with a host of friends and relatives.
