On March 2, 1936, in Logansport, Indiana, John Moody Kinnear was born to James Edward Kinnear and Katherine Moody.
John and his brother Edward had a wonderful Midwestern childhood, but their family trips to Arizona, including stays at a “dude ranch”, made a lasting impression. Obviously, he would return to attend the University of Arizona: here he met his future bride, Coreen Mencimer of Denver, Colorado. They were married November 8, 1958. He made lifelong friends at the U of A that would lead to a career in respiratory care which then led later to working on political campaigns and service in the federal government. He was on the White House staff of President Reagan, culminating his federal service with Department of Transportation in 1988. He later was the Chairman of the Board for the Georgetown Rail Equipment Company. John was a modern pioneer in the respiratory care industry. He served as Director on the Board of the American Association for Respiratory Care and was the inventor of several medical oxygen delivery systems which currently remain in hospital and home care use today.
John loved his country and was proud to have traveled to every state. Arlington, Texas, was his home since 1974. He was a very patriotic man. He was honored to be a member of the Air Power Council and its foundation, a military support organization based in Fort Worth. He loved the military and his military pals. He was an honorary member of the 457th Air Force Fighter Squadron assigned to the 301st Fighter Wing at the NASJRB.
John Kinnear leaves this world a better place and is survived by his wife, three sons, seven grandchildren and extended family whom he loved. He treasured his time helping and celebrating the life journey of each and every member of his family and friends. John Kinnear believed that “with God’s help all things are possible.” Lastly, John Kinnear had a mid-career calling to organize and promote, “Positive Mental Attitude” Rallies across the country with Paul Harvey, Norman Vincent Peale and other dignitaries. Borrowing from Zig Ziglar, John Kinnear would like to tell all now, “see you at the top.”
