Arlington – John R. Montgomery, 88, a retired engineer, passed from this earthly-life to life-eternal on Monday, December 31, 2018 in Arlington.
Funeral: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 5, at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Interment: Moore Memorial Gardens, Arlington. Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 4, at the funeral home.
John was born in Fort Worth, but graduated from Teague High School in Teague, Texas. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1954. John began his college education at Sam Houston State in Huntsville, but transferred to Texas Tech University at Lubbock to complete his bachelor's degree. He graduated in 1963 with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering.
Following graduation he worked as an Industrial Engineer at LTV Aerospace for 18 years and then became an Operations Manager with the A.E. Petsche Co. Inc. in Arlington. Following retirement he also served 6 years on the Tarrant Appraisal Review Board and was chairman of that board for two years. John was a member of Fielder Road Church and also active in Bible Study Fellowship for 26 years and was a Group Discussion Leader who led men in the discussion of God's word for over 20 of those years.
He was an avid reader who made friends easily. His joy came from his close relationship with the Lord and his forty-year marriage to Laura. He lived life with passion but in his later life, he longed to be away from his body and in the presence of the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:8).
John was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Montgomery; and daughter, Karen Kay Montgomery.
Survivors: Daughter, Kimberly Ann Montgomery of Arlington; granddaughter, Sarah Ballenger and her husband, Rick of Arlington; grandsons, Sean David Locker and wife, Courtney of Austin, and Joshua Locker and wife, Sara Suarez, Ryan and Jeremy Locker, of North Richland Hills.
