John led a fulfilling life, having pursued his education diligently, graduating from Washburn University in 1957 with a degree in Business Administration. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1955. A dedicated family man, he married Laura Lopez in Monterrey, Mexico in August 1955 and was blessed with five children, John Edward, Luis Alexander, Robert Lee, Alan James, and Laura Marie.

John’s strong work ethic began at the age of 12 at a Chocolate Shop in Tokepa where he worked until he graduated college. After a successful career with Sears, John retired in Killeen, Texas in February 1989 and spent his time partaking in his hobbies of golfing with friends and fishing on his beloved boat. He was always surrounded by loved ones and friends, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and joy.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Jose M. Garcia and Rose Cherry Garcia; wife, Laura Lopez Garcia; one brother, Luis Garcia; and two sisters, Carol Wilbanks and Angie Platt.

John is survived by his sister, Mary Munoz; his sons, Eddie and Donna, Luis and Martha, Robert and Sonia, and Alan Garcia; along with his daughter, Laura Godfrey; 11 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
