Jack Higgins passed from this life to the arms of our Lord on August 23, 2017.
Service will be held at Wade Funeral home, Arlington, TX, Wednesday, August 30, 11:30 a.m.Viewing will take place before the service, from 10:30 a.m.- 11:30 a.m.Interment: 1:30 p.m. in Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas, TX.
Jack was born in Omaha, Nebraska in1920, but has resided in Ft. Worth, Texas since 1934. Jack's love of flying from an early age resulted in him joining the Army Air Corps, known today as the United States Air Force, when he was 22 years old. His active duty was in the China Burma India,“CBI”, Theater of World War II, and he flew 186 missions over the Himalayan Mountains, known as ”The Hump.” The list of medals he received includes the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal, 1 Oak Leaf Cluster to Air Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star, 1 Overseas Service Bar, Bronze Star on AP Ribbon (Central Burma), Bronze Star on AP Ribbon (China).
In 1948,Jack Higgins along with his father, J. D. Higgins, Sr., founded J. D. Higgins Company, Inc., which is still in business today, and operates out of offices in Arlington, Texas. The family business's namesake is carried on by third generation, Julia Higgins.
Wonderful father, devoted husband, exemplary employer, honorable veteran, loyal friend,Rotary Club Paul Harris Fellow and Cmdr. Ft. Worth Power Squadron, Jack Higgins had a warm heart, a quick wit and a magnificent ability to enthrall a crowd with his storytelling. He will be missed by his family and friends immensely.

Jack was preceded in death by Hope Starr Higgins, first wife and mother of two children.
Jack is survived by his wife, Carol S. Higgins, daughters, Julia Higgins of Arlington,TX, Joy La Force of Denver, CO, Granddaughter, Lisa Clark, son-in-law, Wade Clark and great grandson, Ethan Clark of Playa Vista, CA and cousin, Bob Bragg of Dallas, TX.
