John Peyton Flaherty

John Peyton Flaherty went into God’s loving arms on December 7, 2024. John was born to Hubert John Flaherty and Marjorie Jean Server Flaherty in La Crosse, Wisconsin on August 30, 1961. His mom went into labor while his dad was bowling but they made it to the hospital in time. John attended Galesville Ettrick Trempealeau Schools where he was on student council for his 4 high school years. He played 4 years of football and basketball, was the captain of the football team senior year and was in the letterman’s club. John received his bachelor's degree in marketing at the University of La Crosse, Wisconsin. John had many friends during his high school and college days. He worked at his parent’s grocery store, Gale IGA since he was 14 years old and all the way through college. During his time at the UW La Crosse, John met his wife, Lori Ann Bach. She was the love of his life, and they were married on October 6, 1989. In 1988, they set off on a new adventure and moved from the cold winters in Wisconsin to start a new life at the beach in Tampa, FL. John started working in Tampa at Sports Authority and worked his way up in that company to District Manager overseeing locations in 4 surrounding states and multiple stores. John’s job at Sports Authority gave them the opportunity to live in South Carolina, Georgia, and Tennessee where they made many fun memories together. John and Lori welcomed their first daughter, Breanna in Orlando in 1992, their second daughter, Alisha in South Carolina in 1996 and their son, Peyton, in 1998 in Georgia. After living in Georgia for a short period, they headed to Hendersonville, TN where they built their second home. Finally in 2000, they landed in the great state of Texas, which is where they decided was “home”. John began working for Farmers Insurance where he was a dedicated employee and helped so many people. Johns' family was his world, and he would do anything for them. As the kids grew up, John was very involved in all their activities, coaching each one of them in their many sports, going camping with the girls scouts and teaching them how to fish and being there for every experience big or small. John never missed a game. Throughout his entire life John had 2 passions besides his family – fishing and the Green Bay Packers. He was adamant that all 3 kids knew how to bait a hook, cast a line and reel it in! His love for fishing took him many places including Minnesota where he had joined his buddies for a traditional fishing trip for the past several years. Mille Lacs Lake was his Happy Place. He loved being there. Being from Wisconsin John was born and raised a Cheesehead and was proud to finally be a partial owner of the Green Bay Packers. John made sure that all his kids never wavered and were wearing the green and gold on game day with the Packer flag flying, no matter what state they were living in. In the most recent years, John took a more artistic route with his passions that included painting and woodworking. He really enjoyed being in his woodshop. He made the most beautiful charcuterie boards, tables, wood pieces, etc., you name it he could make it! He was also known as “Mr. Fix-It.” He will always be remembered as a man with great empathy and integrity. He was a kind, warm and caring person with a gentle nature and a quick wit. John was preceded in death by his father, Hubert J. Flaherty and his maternal grandmother, Elsie Server. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Lori A Flaherty, two daughters, Breanna Flaherty of Arlington, TX, Alisha Flaherty (fiancé Kyle Stallings) of Benbrook, TX and son Peyton Flaherty of Dallas, TX, his loving mother, Marjorie Flaherty of Galesville, WI, sister Gail McDonah (Daniel) of Trempealeau, WI, brother Michael Flaherty (Rhonda) of Galesville, WI, brother Patrick (Cassie) of Farmington, MN and many nieces and nephews and cherished friends. “Death leaves a heartache no one can heal.
