ARLINGTON -- John E. Featherston Sr., 83, a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, Oct. 31, 2016, in Arlington. Funeral: 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington, with Rev. J. Scott Holmes and Rev. Jerry Morris officiating. Interment: Moore Memorial Gardens, Arlington. Visitation: The family will receive family and friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. John was born May 29, 1933, near Kerens to John A. Featherston and Virgie Bradford Featherston. John moved to Ennis on Thanksgiving Day 1948. John served in the Army with the 505th AAA (anti-aircraft artillery) Battalion as a launch pad sergeant with the (Nike) guided missiles. John was a member of Fielder Road Baptist Church. He retired from Menasco Aerosystems with 43 years of service as a senior manufacturing engineer. John was preceded in death by his wife, Rita; daughter, Sherrie Lynn of Ennis; father, John A. Featherston of Ennis; mother, Virgie Bradford Featherston of Ennis; brothers, Ernest Featherston of Corsicana, Claude Wylie of Corsicana, Raymon Featherston of Ennis; and sister, Lucille Hollaway of Arlington. Survivors: Son, John E. Featherston Jr. and wife, Karen, of Arlington; daughters, Dianne Sommerville of Houston, Suzi Watson and husband, Gary, of Grand Prairie, Kara Holmes and husband, Scott, of Shreveport, La.; brother, Bobby Featherston Sr. of Red Oak; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a dear friend and companion of several years, Ruth Nowlin.
